16 Mar St. Patricks Day Pop Up Card: Guinness Glass
Saint Patrick's Day is almost here! So last year I was in Boston with my cousins who own a bar. We started talking about pop up cards and the idea of making a pop up pint of Guinness came up. I started to make this card last year but didn't finish the popup card in time for St. Patricks Day. So a year later, I decide to finish it. I had a whole year to finish it, but of course it came down to the last few days.
This is a great paper craft to make for other occasions such as Father's day, or birthdays for a guy. As you open the card, the beer will fill up the glass. If you're a hard core Guinness drinker, you will know what “Top up” means. If you don't, you can check this out: How to pour a perfect Guinness draught . Then click on the link to the right. Actually, I don't drink beer so I had to look it up. When you pour a glass of Guinness, you pour it about an inch below the lip of the glass. Then you need to wait for a few minutes for the bubbles to settle, and then top up the glass so that the head is just above the rim of the glass. So, opening the pop up card simulates topping up the glass.
You have to watch the video to really see the card in action. Check it out here:
Here is what the card looks like:
This is the front of the card:
As you open the card, you can see the beer rise to the lip of the glass:
This card took me a while to make because cutting the intricate features in the logo and text was difficult. I used an old blade on my KNK machine and an old cutting mat. The blade ended up tearing up the logo every time. Luckily, I had my Silhouette Cameo as a back up. I use my Cameo to cut the more difficult features.
